I believe that even the most inanimate objects can be transformed when I bring in my own perspective and experiences. That’s why my art is oftentimes fragmented and layered, with a person blending into the background or with the surrounding objects. It’s hard to separate myself and my essence from everything that I am seeing and painting. For example, my artwork series ‘‘beyond the reality’’, I may have gotten my motive from Canyon, but this drawing also encompasses my memories and life journey. The shape of thick and thin unruly lines are expressions of my happiness, willingness, hardships and frustrations.

But there is always light between them reminding me to be hopeful.

I have always been interested in art and was inspired by my surroundings. I studied Art History at the Graduate School in Korea. When I began to self-study interior design, I was particularly drawn to deconstructing space and color composition. It took me a long time to actually pick up a brush and start painting. Now I know that my today’s art is an accumulation of my yesterday’s experience, and everyday life memories. Learning the perspectives of artists via Art History and learning the depth of color and dynamism of space via interior design. Those are my driving forces when I approach my art.
