As a fiber arts artist, I often choose to paint on linen. The natural way paint is portrayed on linen allows me to recreate the soft colors found in nature. I also find myself gravitating toward hand sewn embroidery, as it was a skill I have learned since I was young. As a child I was surrounded by a wide variety of fabric, which has inspired me to make and design clothing for myself.
A few years ago I found myself painting on recycled paper and enjoyed discovering this new type of medium. For my most recent pieces, my inspiration came from two landscape pictures I directly shot; on taken here in Washington state and the other while I was traveling in South Korea.
I wanted to show my enduring fascination with fiber arts and its potential for expressing nature by combining influences from both the traditional South Korean culture along with the American culture.
I see my art pieces as a healing experience for the viewer.
